Road Trip Phonetography - Lubbock Texas

3/25 Lubbock Buddy Holly Tourism

The first full day of driving alone, I decided to get off the main road at Flagstaff and go to the Apache -Sitgreaves National Forests, and then spend the 24th going to Pie Town, New Mexico, Roswell, and then Lubbock Texas. I woke up early for some Buddy Holly Tourism before getting to friends in Austin.

Lubbock was excellent for low key free tourism. My favorite bit was the crosswalks that were painted with thick rimmed glasses in homage. There were bricks with song titles on it outside the renovated theater where he played, and a two block section of brown grass, a statue of Buddy Holly playing guitar, and the walls surrounding the statue with the names of those who are part of the West Texas Walk of Fame.
