Artist Statement

I am a self-taught multi media artist and documentarian. My work focuses on the unheard voice, how place shapes our lives, mutual aid, comparative experience across identities, and the importance of keeping your own archives and the clean and sharp edit.

I began working with audio in 1991, using razor blades and tape to make edits in news stories, and learning about journalism and the story arc. In the mid-1990's digital editing became accessible, and made room for loving amateurs to experiment with audio art. The renaissance in digital storytelling loosened some rules and concepts as to what the documentary form is, and has made it possible for more people to participate in creating the way we tell history. My many projects include 35+ years of radio production, zines, books, films, audio zines, demos, and a few pieces of vinyl. Project information is on the Project page.

I work at Outside the Frame as Operations Manager. I play drums in the band Noxeema. I put out the zine Chasing the Night. I am a cat person and a night person.
