Community Announcement: Death by 1000 Nostalgic Cuts
Never before had I gone to San Francisco for one night only, no other stops in the bay area at all. But it had to be done.
Greg Harvester was working on a new photo zine with Karoline Hanson Collins, this one about Muses! This one would have an interview in it, and I was lucky enough to get the call! Greg and Karoline and I got ghacked on coffee and finally remembered to eat. We talked for a long time about her life and the role photography and punk rock and traveling in her life and in her image making.
I got the package of zines this morning, and ran into Marat at the post office. He waited patiently for me to open the package so I could give him a copy of the zine, and then graciously posed with it as the “thanks Greg and Karoline” photo to include with the text. (that’s the below photo)
Some of my favorite moments were talking about how fun it is to sell merch and how you get a little bit of space to open up to people when there’s a counter in front of you, the nerd camera talk (highly edited, but Karoline and Greg got really animated and it was fun to watch!) and diving into our web of connections before we all knew each other, and how they’re still so strong. It’s work to keep up with a community but nothing holds you better like old friends, good bands, and photographs to bring back the special sweet memories.
Fluke is distributing the zines, or ask me and I’ll help you find a copy.
